What does your Virtual School believe that ARTS (music, dance, drama, art, literature, digital, etc) and CULTURE (museums, libraries, historic places of interest etc) offer your young people?
Opportunities to take part in a range of creative activities and experiences with the potential to unlock new skills and talents you never knew you had. A time to let go of the stresses of the day and take some time for yourself to explore different art forms and get creative.
Describe / list your Virtual School’s local arts and cultural offer
Fully funded instrumental tuition in Year 4. Opportunities to make music away from school by joining an ensemble or a choir with children from other schools. Opportunities to take part in projects such as Band in a Day, Come & Play, Layers of Legacy (Black history project) as well as starting an Arts Award and looking at the Artslink Connect & Create offers.
Please describe any particularly effective or successful partnerships and projects that you currently have/previously have had.
We have worked with a Graffiti artist, a ceramicist from Red House Glass Cone, a glass fusion artist from Dudley Museum and a word poet. In one of our residential homes we have Ed Davies, a singer /songwriter working with a group of children.
What local arts events or venues are you personally looking forward to visiting once they open after the latest lockdown?
Dudley Zoo, Red House Glass Cone, Black Country Living Museum, Canal & Tunnel Trust, our local library, music venues around our area and our local drama groups.
